Earlier, American electric car producer Tesla recalled over two million electric cars due to failure to meet safety regulations. This safety regulation Tesla failed to meet was about warning lights font. To mitigate the high risk of accidents and potential class action lawsuits, Tesla recalled all affected vehicles.

Safety Regulations on Warning Lights Fonts

According to the regulations, the fonts of warning light panels should be big and bold enough for people to read easily.

The rationale for this regulation is that when the panel’s fonts are smaller, they are difficult to read. This difficulty may hinder people from easily reading important safety information, which, in turn, may cause road accidents.

However, some Tesla electric car models have very small fonts on their warning light panels. This means that they are not particularly legible for everyone to read easily and thus do not comply with safety regulations. So, to avoid higher rates of accidents, Tesla recalled vehicles with smaller warning light panel fonts.

Tesla’s Assisted Driver’s Software Problems

This was not the first time Tesla recalled its vehicle models due to safety regulations issues. In 2023, it recalled over two million vehicles following reports from a government agency that drivers failed to remain attentive when using Tesla’s assisted driver’s software.

Tesla’s electric car possesses a self-drive feature with the help of the assisted driver’s software. What this software does is that it steers, accelerates, and parks the car automatically. As a result, the car can steer, park, and stop without the driver’s input.

However, drivers need to pay attention to the cars to prevent accidents, as the software is not infallible. When the software encounters errors that result in an accident, the car manufacturer may have to settle a personal injury lawsuit due to the failures of the electric car. That is why drivers must pay attention even when using the automatic driving mode.

However government reports suggest that Tesla may have fallen short in implementing measures to ensure that drivers still pay attention to the car even when using the assisted driver’s software. Thus, when there is a problem with the assisted driver’s software, the driver may not react in time to prevent a crash.

“Tesla’s recent safety recalls underscore the ongoing challenges in developing and deploying advanced driver-assistance systems,” says personal injury attorney Eric Doroshow of The Law Offices of Doroshow, Pasquale, Krawitz & Bhaya.

Tesla Recalls Cars in Chinese Market

Earlier that year, Tesla recalled over a million vehicles in China because of a fault in the assisted driver’s software. This setback posed a significant challenge for the company in its quest to battle out the electric car market with Chinese companies that have surged ahead.

Tesla’s Steering Wheel Problem

Apart from font problems and assisted driver’s issues, Tesla has had to surmount another hurdle in recent times in the face of the steering wheel problem. The Federal government regulations agency conducted an engineering check-up on Tesla’s hardware and found a problem with the steering wheel.

More than 2000 drivers have complained about the difficulty of making a turn using the steering wheel in some of Tesla’s vehicle models. Over 10,000 drivers have also reported issues with steering and suspension. According to the drivers, either the steering wheels refused to budge or steering the vehicle to make a turn was an arduous task.

Also, whenever this problem arises, the assisted steering control’s efficiency drops. Most of the time, these vehicles may require a tow truck to move them away from the spot where the steering wheel problem occurs.

To counter this issue, Tesla promised a free software update. However, this promise has put the eyes of federal safety agencies on Tesla’s vehicles.
